Sculptra Side Effects!

Sculptra Aesthetic works to replace lost collagen in a series of treatments administered by a Sculptra Aesthetic trained physician. On average, three injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection sessions and the number of injections per session vary from person to person. Within the deep dermis, your skin's structure is reinforced as Sculptra Aesthetic helps to replace lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness of your shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds* that has been depleted over time. Sculptra Aesthetic is different because it gradually and subtly corrects these facial wrinkles. This can provide a refined, more youthful looking appearance that can last more than two years. Safety and effectiveness of Sculptra Aesthetic have not been evaluated in areas other than nasolabial wrinkles and folds in clinical trials.
Sculptra has been available worldwide since 1999, and FDA approved since 2004.  It is a "biostimulatory" filler, meaning that it increases your skin's own collagen production.  That collagen provides a scaffolding that lifts the skin and decreasing deep & shallow wrinkles.
As with all injectables, patients experience mild to moderate discomfort with the injection, and bruising is a risk.

Sculptra differs from other injectables in that it can cause bumps.  These bumps are the result of too much collagen formation.  In the last several years, techniques have evolved so that these bumps, should they occur, are small.  They typically cannot be seen, only felt.  And, they typically go away by themselves after a few months.
Newer techniques include reconstituting the product at least 48 hours in advance, using a more dilute concentration, and fanning the product (so as not to put too much in a single area).
Sculptra achieves longlasting, natural results.  It works better than any other product for filling the periphery of the face (temples, submalar hollows, enhancing the jaw).

The Sculptra Procedure:
During the procedure your doctor will use a water soluble pencil to outline a grid that is perpendicular and parallel to the nasolabial fold. This helps the doctor properly assess where the injections should go for maximum effect. Again, this procedure shows effects gradually, as the body begins to absorb the material and produce collagen, so proper targeting of the injections is essential.
Massage is a vital part of the process. The doctor will massage the injection sites after each series of three to four injections. This helps distribute the product more evenly underneath the skin to allow for better absorption into the deeper skin layers. An important two minute massage also takes place after the injection session, and is done with a facial moisturizer.
Patients are advised to massage the area that was treated for five minutes as well after the procedure is complete. This should be d
Sculptra® is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. Sculptra® provides an increase in skin thickness. The results will be visible within the first few treatment sessions and will last for 2 years or more.
The doctor will determine the number of treatment sessions that will obtain the best result. After the first treatment session, your plastic surgeon will want to reexamine you in two weeks. He/she will then assess if you need additional treatments. It is common for patients with extreme facial fat loss to require three to six sessions.
In a clinical study the treatment results lasted for up to two years after the first treatment session, in most patients. Touch up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effects.
The most common side effects with Sculptra® include bleeding, tenderness, redness, bruising and swelling at the injection site. These side effects usually go away within a few days.
Your plastic surgeon will advise you to massage the treated area (a few times a day) for several days after the treatment. Additionally, an icepack may be applied after the treatment to help any swelling.one about five times each day for a period of five days after treatment
Also, keep in mind that because of how Sculptra works, the wrinkles and facial depressions can actually reappear shortly after the procedure. This is because Sculptra Aesthetic fills wrinkles with small beads of PLLA, which is the substance that eventually leads to collagen production.  As part of the process, the beads biodegrade into the body to stimulate collagen, but this will also cause the wrinkles to temporarily come back until the body has produced more collagen.

When Does Peeling Start After Photofacial?

IPL Photofacial: You should not get any peeling from a photofacial.   A photo facial will decrease the red and brown pigment in the skin over a few sessions.   The browns will get darker and more apparent after a photo facial and then will fall off or fade, but you should not actually peel as you would with certain chemical peels or laser peels.

Do you think that the reflection you see in the mirror each morning matches the way you feel? Many patients wish that there was a safe, easy and quick way to get rid of their red complexion, fine wrinkles, irregular pigmentation and large pores. Photofacial or FotoFacial is one of our most exciting anti-aging services. Photofacial of the face and body produces even-toned skin that looks more youthful.

Photofacial can erase skin damage and treat a variety of skin conditions, such as:

Broken Capillaries

Sun and Smoke Damage

Veins

Mild Acne Scars

Enlarged Pores

Dull Complexions

Uneven Pigmentation

Pigmented Freckles and Age spots

Red Flushing skin

Rosacea & Redness

Liver Spots

Fine lines & Wrinkles

Common Questions About Photofacial.

What results can I expect?

After only one treatment, your skin will have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel. Sunspots will fade. Pore sizes will shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size. These improvements will steadily increase with each treatment. Patients with rosacea will see a progressive decrease in redness with every treatment.

What will recovery be like?

Post-Photo Facial discomfort is almost nonexistent. After treatment with most light systems, the treated skin may appear a little flushed and capillaries may seem to be more visible. The flushed look soon fades away, and the capillaries appear to vanish, leaving the skin looking younger. It's that simple.

How do Photofacial treatments work?

Today's new light technology delivers precise dosages of energy to the skin. During your treatment, light energy is gently delivered through a special hand piece to the targeted area. Levels of energy specific to your treatment are used to maximize your improvement. Once delivered, the light energy is absorbed by the targeted damaged tissue. After any treatment, you should follow your home care instructions, avoid any harsh skin cleansers and always use sunscreen.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the area treated, most clients need a series of approximately five treatments. Treatments usually take from 15 to 30 minutes. Treatments are spaced out at approximately three week intervals.

Do Photofacial hurt?

Most patients describe the sensation to be like the snap of a rubber band on the skin as the pulses of energy are delivered through the hand piece. Some patients opt to have a topical anesthesia. After treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

Who are the best candidates for IPL Photo facial Rejuvenation?

The best candidates have:

Red, flushed faces or rosacea

Sun-damaged skin

Hyperpigmentation

Enlarged pores

Are Photofacial treatments safe?

Yes! Advanced light systems have been used safely for millions of treatments worldwide. These systems treat only the targeted tissues, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. However, some bruising or redness may occur.
