Please explain the results of Kybella. How many treatments is the 'norm?'

KYBELLA is a formulation of deoxycholic acid that mimics the same substance that is naturally produced by our bodies in order to help absorb fats. It works by destroying the tissue’s cell membrane when injected. By properly injecting KYBELLA into submental fat, the fat cells are destroyed. Once the cells have been destroyed they can never again store or accumulate fat.
During initial treatment, the patient receives a number of injections in the targeted region, which takes about 30 minutes. After treatment is complete, the patient is asked to ice the treated area and take an over-the-counter pain reliever. The patients typically need two to three rounds of injections about 30 to 60 days apart to reach the desired effect.
Kybella really works. Every patient with a double chin due to fat in what we can the preplatysmal fat pad will see a significant reduction in that fat without surgery.  Recovery after Kybella treatment is much quicker and easier than after the alternative, liposuction.

After the procedure, the primary side effect you will notice is swelling. This can be noticeable for as little as two days to as long as three weeks and is greater in those with larger volumes of treated fat and higher doses. Older patients, with more skin laxity, will feel that the swelling takes longer to resolve than those with younger and/or tighter skin.
Other than that, there is some tenderness but patients don't usually talk about it on their follow-up visit other than to be reassured that it is normal, since it is fairly mild and mostly only if the area is touched or prodded. Small areas of firmness, if they occur, resolve quickly.
It’s liposuction without the surgery.” With Kybella one can achieve the desired effect of chin liposuction with a series of simple, non-surgical treatments.
KYBELLA treated group of 514 patients compared to the placebo group (508 patients) as measured by both clinician and patient ratings. In addition, visual and emotional impacts of submental fat (happy, bothered, self-conscious, embarrassed, looking older or overweight) were evaluated using a 6-question survey and 79% of 1 and 2-grade composite responders reported satisfaction after 12 weeks post final treatment compared with 33.6% of patients who received placebo.

KYBELLA can cause serious side effects including nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness and trouble swallowing. The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area.
Kybella results are permanent: once the adipocytes (fat cells) die, they do not grow back. Any remaining cells will get larger when you put on weight and smaller when you lose weight, just as all the fat cells in your body will. Because there are fewer cells to become larger in the treated area, you will not put on as much fat in the treated area if you gain weight.

What is the recovery like for Kybella injections?

What is the recovery like for Kybella injections?

Kibella patients at first experience some pain, usually rated 4-6 on a scale of 1-10, for a total of 5-7 hours starting about halfway through the injections, made very tolerable with pain medicine taken prior.
Next, they experience swelling, which can get huge if there was a large amount of fat, which peaks at 18-24 hours after injection and is largely gone after two days after the procedure. Some of the swelling can go down into the upper chest skin--but usually leaves by the end of the second day).
They will develop, often, some numbness in the treated area, which disappears within 45 days.
They often have tenderness-to-the-touch in the area for 45 days, which is not severe enough to interfere with daily life and working.
They may have a transient 3-12 hour period, within the first 24 hours after treatment, of hoarseness and mild discomfort swallowing solid food; no problems breathing or drinking or eating soft foods and smoothies.
By the 3rd day after treatment, the treated area starts to "gel." This is something you feel; not see. This is followed by a solidification or hardening of the gel-fat.
At about a month after the procedure, most people have definite reduction in fat and tightening of skin in the treated area.  This continues to improve over the next 3-5 months. It is an absolutely wonderful procedure!!!
Submental fullness due to fat beneath the chin can impact a broad range of both men and women and because the condition can be genetic and resistant to diet and exercise.2 But there's KYBELLA, the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment that is available by prescription only, that has been proven to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin by physically destroying fat cells in the treatment area. In two pivotal clinical studies for KYBELLA, reductions in submental fat volume were observed more frequently in the KYBELLA treated group of 514 patients compared to the placebo group (508 patients) as measured by both clinician and patient ratings.
KYBELLA - The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Those who are injected on a Thursday or Friday are back at work on Monday!
Kybella the only Injection solution to remove Double Chin!  Double Chin takes away the shape of your face. It's not very attractive, when one sees the double chin, nobody likes that and this is what we mostly hear from prospect clients.
Double chins can be caused by a few things, including weight gain that increases the amount of fat in your neck and chin, heredity, and age. There’s just a stubborn area of fat and Kybella really addresses that. They don't have to undergo surgery. They can have a non-surgical procedure that permanently reduces the fat.
It's this compound that just basically breaks down your fat molecules so then they're dead, permanently dead, and your body just absorbs the fat away.
Liposuction is another option to combat a double chin, but it's surgical, requires anesthesia and is more expensive at around $6,000.
